Chapter 1

Where It All Began

In the early 1700s — during the Qing Dynasty — the farmers of Xinhe Town in Shandong Province began weaving grass and straw into functional containers during the long northern winters. What started as a practical craft — baskets for carrying grain, hats for shielding the sun — became a tradition passed from mother to daughter, generation after generation.

For over 300 years, the people of Xinhe have woven. The techniques evolved — from simple flat weaves to intricate three-dimensional patterns — but the essence remained: natural materials, skilled hands, and a quiet pride in making something beautiful and useful. Today, Xinhe is recognized as the heartland of Chinese straw weaving, and BuzeeBag is proud to carry that heritage forward.

1700s

Origins in the Qing Dynasty

Farmers in Xinhe begin weaving grass and straw into baskets and hats during winter months. The craft spreads through families and becomes a defining regional tradition — a skill every household possessed.

1980s

From Village Craft to Industry

With China's economic opening, Xinhe's straw weaving begins to reach international buyers. The first export orders — small, tentative — show that the world values this heritage craft.

2005

Qingdao Ruilong Artware Founded

Our company is established to professionalize production, formalize quality standards, and serve growing international demand for Xinhe straw products with modern manufacturing discipline.

2013

Intangible Cultural Heritage Designation

Xinhe Grass Weaving is officially recognized as a protected cultural heritage by the Shandong Provincial Government — one of the highest honors for a traditional Chinese craft. Our factory becomes a designated heritage preservation site.

2018

CCTV Feature & National Recognition

Our story — and the story of Xinhe's weavers — is featured on China Central Television, highlighting rural revitalization through traditional craftsmanship. National audiences discover the artistry behind every straw product.

2020

1 Million Annual Capacity Achieved

Factory expansion reaches 15,000 m². Annual output surpasses 1 million pieces. Design team grows to create 200+ new styles annually. BSCI and SEDEX audits completed.

2026

BuzeeBag Launches Globally

We launch BuzeeBag.com — a new identity built to share our full capabilities transparently with the world: factory, heritage, design team, quality systems — all verifiable. Our mission: to be the world's most trusted straw bag manufacturer.

"The hardest years were when traditional crafts fell out of favor and many fellow artisans gave up," she reflects. "I could never let go of this heritage." Today, Li Qiuju leads the preservation of ancient techniques while training the next generation of weavers. "The old ways must not be lost," she says, "but they also cannot stay frozen in time. Watching our traditional patterns combined with modern design, shipping to customers across the world — that is my deepest satisfaction."

38 Years of Weaving

Wu Xiulian grew up in Xinhe surrounded by the rhythm of weaving. She learned the craft from neighboring elders in her youth and has dedicated 38 years to perfecting specialized techniques — three-dimensional openwork, fine-density crossover weaving, and seamless edge finishing.

"I still remember my first export sample order," she recalls. "The finishing requirements were so demanding — I unwove and rewove again and again, refining each stitch until it met international standards. Seeing my hats and bags go overseas gave me immense pride."

Specializing in fashion-grade straw bags, sun hats, and home storage baskets, Wu bridges traditional craftsmanship with the precision demands of global brands like ZARA and COACH. "Technique must be preserved," she believes, "but it must also serve today's market. My goal is to pass solid craft to younger workers, so traditional straw weaving adapts to modern aesthetics and earns recognition from customers worldwide."
